Whilst each program is different, they all adhere to the following principles.

  1. Leadership, Integrity & Example Strategic Leadership, active support and use of the program is crucial.
  2. Empowering & Trusting People If an organisation wants to bring it's values to life it must empower everyone with the ability to recognise these values in the actions of others.
  3. Design, Involvement & Engagement Agree principles with Senior Team, then involve people in the design so that what is launched can be said to have been done with ‘your input, ideas and feedback’.
  4. Ongoing Communication Constant high visibility every day for all, simple, clear and engaging. Use a tangible way of recognising people.
  5. Simple Structure There should be the chance for recognition for all, every day, throughout the whole of the year. Simplicity and minimal administration are key.
  6. Awards to boost Recognition Frequency and variety is more important than value. High value awards can undermine the principles of a program and reduce the quality of recognitions generated.
